Kellyn Thornburg is a dancer, choreographer, immersive artist, and movement educator living in New York City. She currently holds the title of Visiting Assistant Professor of Dance at C.U.N.Y. Queens College, and is a Doctoral student in the Dance Education program at Teachers College, Columbia University. In addition to this, she is a teaching artist with New York City Ballet and Alvin Ailey’s Arts in Education programs. Kellyn holds her M.F.A in Choreography with a concentration on Immersive and Site-Specific Performance from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and her B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She has had the opportunity to work with companies such as Twyla Tharp, Linked Dance Theatre, HouseWorld Immersive, MElder Movement Art, John Selya, and Blue Morph Collective. She has also performed works by Ohad Naharin, Lar Lubovitch, Lucinda Childs, Merce Cunningham, Helen Simoneau, Ori Flomin, and Mariel Pettee. Her choreography has been featured in work with City Lyric Opera (2023), the American Dance College Association Conference (2023), Houseworld Immersive (2021-22), Blue Morph Collective (2021), Second Ave Dance Company at NYU (2020), Linked Dance Theatre (2018-19), the RAVE Festival NYC (2019), and Awakening Movement NYC (2016-17). Kellyn is married to her amazing husband and musical collaborator, Edward Mylechreest, and together they create immersive art and enjoy spending time with their dog Millie.
